In a sketch inspired by “A Christmas Carol,” Alec Baldwin’s Trump gets haunted by the ghosts of Trump’s past, present and future.
“Saturday Night Live” kicked off with Christmas festivities by bringing back Alec Baldwin’s impersonation of President Donald Trump.
In the latest episode, the show started off with a cold open to celebrate Christmas at the White House. The segment starts as Baldwin’s Trump walks into the Oval Office in a “pouty baby mode” with Kate McKinnon’s Kellyanne Conway following him.
Conway tries to persuade Trump to stay longer at the Christmas party but Trump insisted he is not in holiday mood as the “Flynn investigation has got him really down.”
McKinnon’s Conway leaves the room and then Trump is visited by the ghosts of his past, present and future.
But before the ghosts appeared, Mikey Day came up with his impersonation of Michael Flynn. Tied in chains and handcuffs, he tried to explain to Trump how important it is to come out clean now.
“It’s time to come clean for the good of the country,” said Day’s Flynn.
But, of course, that was the one thing that Trump had trouble understanding as he kept repeating and fumbling the words.
“Oh, Mike you were my man…if only somebody warned me about you,” Baldwin said, to which Day responded, “Well, Obama did warn you not to hire me.”
“I meant someone American,” said Baldwin as he talked to Flynn.
The ghosts then appeared, first one being Alex Moffat as Billy Bush — the ghost of the past. Moffat’s Bush reminded Trump of the famous “Access Hollywood” tape and told him how he got fired just for listening to the tape.
The ghost of the present, Beck Bennett as shirtless Vladimir Putin, then comes to haunt Trump.
“Listen, we put a lot of work into you…and you’re about to mess it all up,” complained Bennett’s Putin.
Baldwin’s Trump in return promised to be “more diplomatic with North Korea.” He then asks Putin if he thinks he’s cool.
Bennett’s Putin disappears immediately without answering the question.
And then the ghost of the future appears in a black hood completely hiding the face. Baldwin struggles to recognize the ghost and thinks it’s Steve Bannon. However, it turns out to be McKinnon’s Hillary Clinton.
“You have given me the greatest Christmas gift of all: sexual gratification in the form of your slow demise,” McKinnon’s Clinton told Trump.
And then chanted, “Lock him up.”
In the end, Cecily Strong as Melania Trump comes to Baldwin’s Trump rescue and wakes him up from the nightmare. A shaky Trump then told Strong’s Melania how scared he was as the spirits haunted him.
