“Sometimes I lay under the moon and I thank God I’m breathin. ‘Then I pray don’t take me soon cause I am here for a reason.”
Those are the opening words of Matisyahu’s hit song, “One Day” and last week on February 16th 2012 the song morphed with a whole new meaning. With the help of Chai Lifeline Luke Weber, a young boy battling with Cancer got the opportunity to share the stage with music superstar Matisyahu live at The Tarrytown Music Hall in Westchester, New York.
Chai Lifeline is an organization offering assistance and programming to families fighting life threatening diseases. And the organization helped Luke is living one of his biggest dreams by giving him this opportunity.
The performance made by Luke and Matisyahu left all teary eyed as well as inspired all at the same time.
“Sometimes in my tears I drown/but I never let it get me down,” Luke sang to a cheering audience. “So when negativity surrounds/I know some day it'll all turn around.”
The performance was followed by an overwhelming standing ovation and cheers of “Luke” echoing in the Music Hall.
Luke's parents credit Chai Lifeline with giving their son a chance to feel like a regular kid. “They continue to amaze me…It is because of them that Luke is not a victim of cancer. He is the happiest, most cup-half-full kid we know.” – Luke’s mother Eliza.
