Oprah Winfrey doesn’t really need an introduction, so I won’t bother giving you one. However the Oprah Winfrey Network chairman and firmer TV host is on her maiden trip to Mumbai, India. She landed in India on Monday and attended a party thrown in her honor by socialite Parmeshwar Godrej. The visit would be a week long and during her visit she will be filming a documentary, a new show called ‘Next Chapter’ and will also attend the literary festival in Jaipur city from 20th to 22nd January. She is also said to visit Delhi, Rishikesh and Agra during her trip.



Oprah's 'Next Chapter' is the next edition of her famous talk show in which she will travel around the world interviewing celebrities, newsmakers and others. The Philanthropist is also expected to visit the city’s slums today as well as t have dinner with a traditional family of four generations.



Oprah was seen wearing a red sari as she travelled in a car with Bollywood acting legend Amitabh Bachchan along with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, his son and daughter-in-law. They were headed to the star studded glitzy party held by Godrej for Oprah. Other actors who attended the party included Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, and Preity Zinta.



“Tonight was dinner at the Godrej House with Oprah Winfrey. Nice to see her wearing a beautiful sari.” – Preity Zinta tweeted.

“SRK [Shah Rukh Khan] tells her she is the biggest star in India. Country's A-list queues up for pictures with sari-clad celebrity. O [Oprah] is WOW,” writer Shobhaa De posted on her Twitter feed.

Some of Oprah’s fans on Twitter suggested that she should see more than just the glamorous side to India and, in a reply, she promised she would be “seeing it all.”

Winfrey said she had wanted to visit India for some time. “Never been to India, it's been on my vision board forever.”

Some reports also suggest that she might have gotten permission to film at the famous Taj Mahal in Agra and that she may shoot some segments of a new talk show that she is working on.

Oprah’s planned trip to the Jaipur literary festival is much anticipated. She is due to attend it with author and life-coach Deepak Chopra, who has also flown over from the US. Her interview with Chopra at Jaipur’s City Palace will be broadcast later on her own television channel ‘OWN.’

Oprah’s School, Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in Africa has been in several scandals. The case of a school matron molesting many girls. There was also the case of a dead baby found in the bag of one of the students. Yesterday her school celebrated the graduation of its first batch.

Also, meeting the Bachchans was on priority during her trip. A source said that, “Oprah is likely to interview the Bachchan family for the show. Aishwarya has been part of her show in the past.”

Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, “The gracious Oprah Winfrey visits our home, to meet us and bless the baby..warm hearted, endearing .. drive her to party in her honor.”

We all know that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan had a baby girl two months ago famously known as BetiB. Oprah met her during her visit to the Bachchan residence in Mumbai ‘Jalsa’ and was there for over an hour. BetiB’s birth was much awaited by all the national as well as international fans of the Bachchan clan. However, BetiB and her name have been kept a secret from the media to-date.

Is it possible that Oprah will use this opportunity and introduce BetiB to the rest of the world? Now what would this do for the Bachchans and Oprah? Well, it’s simple; Oprah will get publicity out of this which can be good for covering up on the scandals affiliated with her school. And it would mean a worldwide recognition of BetiB for the Bachchans! Being introduced on an international platform as compared to Indian media would obviously be huge!
