Meet Hana Hwang, a 13-year-old who suffers from progeria. This condition causes children to age eight to ten times faster than the average person. It is a non-curable ailment and only 10 such cases exist in the US. Such kids survive on average just 13 years, Hana’s age.

“Progeria is an extremely rare genetic condition wherein symptoms resembling aspects of aging are manifested at an early age. The word progeria comes from the Greek words "pro," meaning "before", and "géras", meaning "old age". The disorder has very low incidences and occurs in an estimated 1 per 8 million live births. Those born with progeria typically live to their mid teens and early twenties. It is a genetic condition that occurs as a new mutation, and is rarely inherited. Although the term progeria applies strictly speaking to all diseases characterized by premature aging symptoms, and is often used as such, it is often applied specifically in reference to Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS).” – Wikipedia.

Hana Hwang is a huge Selena Gomez fan and only listens to her songs. Hana even writes lyrics of all of Gomez’s songs in her diary. She dreamt of meeting her ‘Hero’. Ryan Seacrest got Hana and Selena in contact, after which the young singing sensation visited Hana at the LA hospital last December.

Selena’s visit left Hana totally stunned so much so that she told her tutor Sara Kim that she was dumb struck. Brave Hana even told Sara that she couldn’t speak because she was afraid she would cry and ‘look like a baby.’ Sara told Ryan Seacrest afterwards on Ryan Seacrests’s Kiss show. But later she wanted to thank the teenage starlet, who is dating Justin Bieber, by making her a bracelet and a video message.

And now the video tribute she made for Gomez has gone viral. It is awfully touching and humbling to see a teenager suffer like so and yet have so much of warmth to spread.

Hana listens to Gomez’s ‘Love You Like A Love Song’ and ‘Who says’ on repeat to give her strength during treatment sessions. The lyrics, ‘I'm no beauty queen. I'm just beautiful me. You got every right to a beautiful life,’ especially strike a chord with the 13 year old, the hospital said.

Along with the video tribute Hana even made a beaded bracelet for Selena, she made a matching bracelet for herself too. Only, that Hana’s is three times smaller than Selena’s. This week Selena posted a picture compilation of Hana and her on Twitter writing ‘This is my #iwontgiveup photo. Hana is so beautiful and one of the most incredible people I've met. Love you’.

 The video footage is shot in Hana’s hospital room as she sits with her work-station in front of her making the beaded bracelet. In the video she even describes how she painstakingly copies the lyrics of Selena’s songs into her diary.

When asked what Selena means to her, Hana says, “She's my hero, because she's a singer as well as an actress and she has been on both TV shows and movies.”
