Facebook, Zynga, Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, and others recently created the sFund, a $250 million fund devoted to entrepreneurs dedicated to making our lives and the internet more social. At the announcement of the fund, we witnessed not only a development in the investing environment, but we also saw the clashing fashion sense of the new and old businessmen. While companies are working to become more social, their CEO's are trying harder to look cool while doing it. John Doerr and Bing Gordon were most notably trying the hardest to emulate their younger counterparts, Mark Zuckerberg and Mark Pincus. They still have a long ways to go before they can truly be comfortable in their new skin. Until then, let this be a lesson for all you older businessmen out there: Get casual, get social, or get left behind.
