Singer Adam Lambert told a British radio station Monday that he’d been unaware of reports that he might be under consideration to be a judge on the next season of “American Idol,” but called it “a beautiful rumor” and said he would “jump at the chance” if he were approached about such a role on the show that launched his career.
“If they were to approach me and if they were to say 'We want you to be a judge on the show,' I would love that,” Lambert said during a web chat withBritain's Capital FM while in the country to wrap up a round of performances he’s been giving with Queen. “I think it would be fun.”
E! News reported Monday, citing anonymous sources, that “Idol” officials have been discussing Lambert as a possibility to join the judging panel if Jennifer Lopez does not return. Lopez has said she is not interested in doing a third season.
"I've been a fan of the show since it's been on television,” Lambert said Monday. “I owe my career to ‘American Idol’. If it wasn't for ‘American Idol’ I doubt I'd be sitting here with you. I don't think my life would have went the way it went."
