The latest Saturday Night Live episode was perhaps one of the most anticipated episodes of this season as host Melissa McCarthy brought back her widely-adored Sean Spicer impression, especially towards the end of a week that proved to be quite tumultuous for the embattled White House press secretary.
However, besides McCarthy’s Spicey coming back from the bushes, another sketch also proved to be one of the best highlights of the episode.
The cold open lampooned President Donald Trump’s recent interview with NBC’s Lester Holt, during which the two, of course, discussed now former-FBI Director James Comey’s firing.
Towards the end of the exchange, however, Michael Che’s Holt realizes something really important.
“I fired him because of Russia,” Baldwin’s Trump says. “I thought, ‘He’s investigating Russia. I don’t like that. I should fire him.’”
“You’re admitting that? But that’s obstruction of justice,” Che’s Holts quickly responds, sending he finally caught Trump admitting to a cover-up.
As Che asked the audience, “Did I get him? Is this all over?” he is told that he did not.
”No I didn’t?” he asks. “Nothing matters? Absolutely nothing matters anymore?”
Nope, Lester, nothing matters anymore.
