It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Ashton Kutcher took his role as Steve Jobs a little too seriously!
The 34-year-old actor spent time in the hospital just days before filming his movie role as former Apple CEO Steve Jobs. Speaking at the premiere of the movie ‘Jobs’ at the Sundance film festival on Friday night, Kutcher revealed that he went to hospital with pancreas problems after following a strict diet of fruit, nuts and seeds.
"First of all, the fruitarian diet can lead to like severe issues," Kutcher said after the film's screening. "I went to the hospital like two days before we started shooting the movie. I was like doubled over in pain.
"My pancreas levels were completely out of whack," Kutcher added. "It was really terrifying ... considering everything."
‘Considering everything’ may be a reference to the cause of Jobs’ death, pancreatic cancer, in October 2011. Jobs was known to maintain a fruitariandietwhich Kutcher imitated for his role to replicate Jobs.
Method actors are known to go to extremes to understand the characterthey’re portraying. For example, Christian Bale is rumored to have lived on coffee and one apple a day to achieve his gaunt shape in The Machinist, Tom Hanks lost 55 pounds to look like a stranded plane crash survivor in Cast Away and Natalie Portman dropped 20 lbs to play a ballerina in Black Swan but not everyone is suited to these unorthodox diets and therefore Kutcher ended up going to the hospital.
The movie behind the epic diet fail - Jobs is expected to hit theaters in April.
