Despite Kanye West storming the stage in protest of Beck’s Grammy win for Album of the Year over Beyoncé and his blunt diss of Beck’s win, the singer-songwriter is not holding a grudge.
West’s almost “Imma let you finish” moment at last night’s Grammy Awards was definitely not a joke.
The rapper-producer told E! News, “I just know that the Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain't gonna play with them no more. And Beck needs to respect artistry and he should've given his award to Beyoncé.”
Surprisingly, Beck agrees with West that Beyoncé should have won the award telling reporters, "Absolutely I thought she was going to win. Come on she's Beyoncé!”
When West jokingly stormed the stage before Beck’s acceptance speech for Album of the Year for Morning Phase, Beck gestured him back.
"I was so excited he was coming up! He deserves to be on that stage,” Beck said.
While it took Taylor Swift six years to forgive West for his infamous interruption of her acceptance speech for Best Female Video (which also beat out Beyoncé) at the 2009 MTV VMAs, Beck has no such hard feelings.
"You can't please everybody. I still love him and think he's genius," he said. "I aspire to what he does. How many great records has he put out in the last five years, right?"
