The world’s largest religious wax museum now features rejected celebrity wax figures as part of their biblical displays — even starring Tom Cruise as Jesus.

Biblewalk in Mansfield, Ohio has incorporated discarded celebrity figures, including John Travolta, Ringo Starr and even British royalty like Prince Charles, in their biblical scenes for a fresh, familiar take on the classical biblical stories.

Among the 300 wax figures, A-listers like Elizabeth Taylor, Marlon Brando and Tom Cruise make for a stellar biblical cast of cameos. But a museum employee points out that the celebrity appearances were not meant to draw visitors in.

"We try to do them up a bit different sometimes [so they won't be recognized]," Moriah Daugherty said. "For the most part people are here to hear the Bible stories, so we do have people recognize them sometimes, but people really do just recognize the word of God and are so in tune to the story that's going on as they're walking through the museum that it's really not too much of a distraction."

The Telegraph reports the figures came from various places including an auction, a shut-down museum and from Madame Tussuad's museum in Arkansas.

The museum’s director says the displays are “about glorifying God”, so those who just want a celebrity photo might not be encouraged to visit.
