A surprise appearance on this weekend’s edition of Saturday Night Live was made by Big Bird, who became an internet sensation following Mitt Romney’s comments about him.
The Sesame Street star appeared on the Weekend Update with Seth Meyers to comment on Romney's promise to stop government subsidy to PBS. At the same time, he also educated Seth Meyers on tweets and entertained the audience with a political joke of his own.
Take a look at the video:
Big bird has received significant importance since Romney in the first presidential debate said that he wanted to end government funding for PBS.
Here’s what he said:
“I'm sorry, Jim, I'm going to stop the subsidy to PBS. I'm going to stop other things. I like PBS, I love Big Bird. Actually like you, too. But I'm not going to -- I'm not going to keep on spending money on things to borrow money from China to pay for. That's number one."
Mitt Romney’s Big Bird comment from the first presidential debate generated 17,000 tweets per minute when it was first quoted and then spawned a barrage Big Bird memes and tweets on the internet.
