Breaking Bad star, Bryan Cranston, who plays the bald crime-lord Walter White on the show, took to Comic-Con yesterday disguised as, well, himself. Here are a couple photos of Cranston, in and out of “costume” tweeted from Comic-Con attendees.
Bryan Cranston took to the Comic-Con floor donned in a Walter White mask, as well as the unassuming button-up and slacks outfit Walter wears on the show. To Comic-Con viewers, this Walter White could have been any fan. It turns out that fan was Bryon Cranston – Walter White himself.
Cranston fooled Comic-Con fans all day while in the mask by speaking in a “higher register” so as to diffuse suspicion that he was being awesome. Cranston’s big reveal came when he removed the mask upon entering a Breaking Bad panel, an act that no doubt shocked and amazed fans who realized they had spoken to the real Breaking Bad star earlier that day.
If there’s one nit to pick with Cranston’s hilarious prank, it’s that once he did take off the mask, he had hair and looked much more like Malcolm in the Middle Cranston than Walter White. If Cranston truly wanted to break the internet, he would have shaved his head, and then upon taking off the mask, put on his “Heisenberg” hat to thunderous cheers.
Still, Comic-Con is about the fans, and it’s awesome when celebs are able to put their esteem behind them to screw with people. Bryan Cranston is reportedly the nicest, professional, and yet ridiculous star there is. He is truly the Bob Saget of our generation.
