Busy on her Texas tour, Carrie Underwood has not been oblivious to the issues around her. She has definite opinions and she has been airing them. But her recent tweets have seriously raised questions regarding her political involvement.
Shame on TN lawmakers for passing the Ag Gag bill. If Gov. Bill Haslam signs this, he needs to expect me at his front door. Who's with me?— Carrie Underwood (@carrieunderwood) April 18, 2013
Underwood, a longtime animal activist, spoke out with disapproval regarding the "Ag Gag bill" that would require anyone recording images of animal abuse to submit unedited footage or photos to law enforcement within 48 hours.
Around a dozen states have passed or are proposing legislation banning undercover footage or images from farming operations. Supporters of the laws argue they are designed to protect the privacy of farmers and agriculture businesses. In response, State Representative Andy Holt, who supports the bill, told local news: "I would say that Carrie Underwood will stick to singing, I'll stick to lawmaking."
That’s the spirit! But we think putting her in the political arena just yet would be a bit too early. She has been a vocal animal rights and charitable causes.
