“If you remember when this show began I promised you a revolution and I delivered,” Colbert said before saying goodbye.

After enlightening Americans for almost a decade through his pseudo-conservative character, Comedy Central host Stephen Colbert bid farewell to his “Colbert Report” viewers by singing “We’ll Meet Again.”

He was joined by dozens of friends including celebrities and politicians making it an amazing yet incredibly emotional finale.

The first to come on stage was – obviously – Colbert’s long-time friend and colleague Jon Stewart.

But this was just the beginning of Thursday night’s cameos.

There was Paul Krugman, James Franco, Arianna Huffington, Jeff Daniels, Samantha Power, Shane Smith, Katie Couric, and Henry Kissinger among many – many – others.

Oh, Big Bird and the rest of the Sesame Street gang were also there.

Colbert is off to CBS next year where he will succeed David Letterman on the "Late Show."
