Dave Chappelle's Rep Denies His Return To (Web) TV

Earlier Thursday, reports spread that comedian Dave Chappelle is staging a return to television – at least the web side of it – and now his reps are denying the comedian has any plans to do so.

“Absolutely untrue,” Chappelle’s rep Carla Sims tells EW about the reports.

Sources had told The Daily that Chappelle is planning the comeback after leaving his regular series gig on Comedy Central, the Chappelle Show, in 2005.

"Dave Chappelle's going back to TV,” The Daily’s source says. “It's not for a network. It's for Netflix or Crackle or some other subscription service."

Since 2005, Chappelle has performed new material at various comedy clubs and wrote and starred in the music documentary Block Party, directed by Michel Gondry.

Producing a show for the internet or another web subscription service wouldn't be a bad move for the star as several big deals are being made for original programming by such companies. Fight Club's David Fincher will be directing House of Cards starring Kevin Spacey for Netflix. And Sony's Crackle premiered the original web series, Backwash, starring Josh Malina, Michael Ian Black, and Michael Panes in 2010.
