The latest episode of hit television drama “Empire” was dominated by actress Gabourey Sidibe's character Becky and her steamy love scene. Sidibe said she felt beautiful and comfortable shooting the scandalous rooftop scene, but haters took to social media to fat-shame the actress and implicitly poke fun at larger women.

The slew of hateful comments surrounding Sidibe’s size has spurred the actress to embrace her sexuality and hit back at her critics in the most body-positive way.

In a blog post for Entertainment Weekly, Sidibe confidently shut down the negativity and powerfully showed her haters that her self-esteem and body image will not be dictated society's obscene standards.

“I, a plus sized, dark-skinned woman, had a love scene on primetime television. I had the most fun ever filming that scene even though I was nervous. But I felt sexy and beautiful and I felt like I was doing a good job. I’m very proud of the work we all did to make that scene a great opening for the episode. I keep hearing that people are 'hating' on it. I’m not sure how anyone could hate on love but that’s okay. You may have your memes. Honestly, I’m at work too busy to check Twitter anyway. #Booked. Hope you enjoy next week’s show!”
