With the 3D technology gaining momentum we finally have the first wedding video made with the same technology which was used by Ridley Scott in the making of Prometheus and Peter Jackson has been using for filming The Hobbit. According to Peter Chang, the principal photographer of the video that took place in Montecito, California, the wedding is the first to be shot in 5K resolution 3D using the 5K RED Epic Cameras, which is IMAX 3D quality.
However, contrary to the genres of directors like Jackson and Scott, the protagonists of this movie were a couple by the name of Stuart and Julia whose marriage ceremony took place in 3D fashion in the lush grounds of The Mirador Estate. Chang who is also the director and producer of Golden Gate 3D, explained that the full footage of wedding lasts for ten to fifteen minutes.
The effect used in the video was intended to provide a flowing narrative to all the proceedings so that people can enjoy the latest technology for decades to come. However, unfortunately since Bluray is still the most sophisticated technology available to consumers, Julia and Stuart will have to make their own copy on Bluray 3D.
