This is proof talent can flourish anywhere – even in the church.

An Italian nun who won The Voice of Italy back in June has released her debut single, and it's just as shockingly amazing as her big win in the singing competition.

Sister Cristina Scuccia covers Madonna's 1984 smash hit "Like a Virgin," and also put out an accompanying video.

Coming from an Ursuline nun, the song's title and lyrics are sure to raise some eyebrows, but Scuccia says she isn't seeking attention.

“I chose it myself. Without any desire to provoke or scandalise,” the 26-year-old aspiring pop star told the Catholic newspaper Avvenire. “If you read the lyrics without being influenced by what has gone before, you discover that it is a song about the capacity of love to make people new again. To release them from their past. And this is how I wanted to interpret it. That’s why we’ve transformed it from the pop-dance track it was into a romantic ballad a bit in the style of [US singer-songwriter] Amos Lee.”

Scuccia version of "Like a Virgin" is actually a lot different than Madge's original. It's a lot slower and doesn't have any of Madonna's sleazy dancing or revealing clothing.

After giving Scuccia's version a listen, we have to admit her voice, style and personality are a welcome addition to the pop music scene.

She is scheduled to release her debut album, Sister Cristina. on Nov. 11.
