George Clooney, Emily Blunt, Eddie Redmayne and a host of other Hollywood actors just got acquainted with the meaner side of the Internet.

With the Academy Awards finally upon us, late night host Jimmy Kimmel probably thought it would be funny to ground some of the industry’s biggest stars with a quick dose of mean tweets ... and he could not have been more right.

The latest version of the highly anticipated segmented was all about stars from the big screen.

George Clooney, Cate Blanchett, Eddie Redmayne, Patricia Arquette, Sean Penn and Jessica Chastain are among the Academy Award winners cut down by the social media users. In fact, someone referred to Clooney as a “ratty old man” while Redmayne learned that he “looks permanently dehydrated” — a fact with which he apparently agreed.

Watch the pre-Oscars, movie-themed edition of Kimmel’s “Mean Tweets” in the video above.

The Academy Awards will take place on Feb. 28 in Los Angeles, California.
