The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart on Monday night gave his take on the recent lifting of the ban on women in front-line combat and addressed some of the criticisms raised by various pundits.
Stewart pointed out: In a war zone, are you really worried about “dying from embarrassment?”
Comedy Central’s host alsonoted that the new policy is a significant change, so there are bound to be objections. There are those who point to physical differences between men and women. Yes, Stewart mockingly said, women are small. ‘They’re tiny!’
In the second part of the segment Stewart’s colleague Samantha Bee investigated, how exactly can the lifting of the ban disturb unit cohesion. She interviewed Kingsley Browne, who said that “it’s not clear that men could actually bond with women.” Bee responded: “so women can disrupt bro-mance.”
