Katy Perry To Perform At Fundraiser For Barack Obama Next Month

Katy Perry will perform at a fundraising concert for US President Barack Obama's re-election campaign next month.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Perry will play at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on October 7 as part of an event titled '30 Days to Victory'. She will top a star-studded bill, with the other acts playing set to be announced across the coming weeks.

Tickets will be available via the President's campaign and will cost $250 (£154) per person. The concert will be followed by a dinner hosted by Dreamworks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg. Tickets for the dinner start at $25,000 (£15,425) per person.

Perry is not the only musician to get behind Obama's 2012 re-election campaign. Last month, Brooklyn band The National played a rally for the incumbent president in Iowa.

Earlier this month, the Foo Fighters dedicated their track 'My Hero' to Obama when they played a two-song acoustic set at the Democratic National Convention.

As well as this, last night (September 18) Beyonce and Jay-Z raised $4 million (£2.46 million) for Obama's re-election campaign after they hosted a fundraiser.

The event was held at Jay-Z's 40/40 club in New York last night (September 18) and saw 100 ticket buyers charged $40,000 (£24,618) each to get in.
