King of Queens star, Leah Remini has publically quit the Church of Scientology, and a source close to Remini claims that the King of Queens star suffered years of “interrogations” and “thought modification” by the church. Leah Remini’s friend claims that her major reason for leaving the church stems involves Scientology leader, David Miscavige. Leah Remini claims that David Miscavige refused any Scientology member to question his ideas or decisions. The King of Queens star also states that the Church of Scientology forced her to sever ties from friends and families. She says she was explicitly ordered to “disconnect” from non-Scientologists in her life.
An anonymous source close to Remini told the NYPost today, “It all began when Leah questioned the validity of excommunication of people. She is stepping back from a regime she thinks is corrupt. She thinks no religion should tear apart a family or abuse someone under the umbrella of ‘religion”.
Remini is the first major celebrity to leave, and also speak out against the Church of Scientology. Numerous celebrities are members of the church including Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, and Beck. Scientology is best known for its mysterious, controversial views that have made it a public target in the past decade. Despite constant rumors of abuse and other cult-like practices, no public figure has addressed these rumors until Leah Remini did today.
Remini now claims that since she has left the Church of Scientology, she has become a target for their attacks. Remini notes that long-time friends of hers within the church have since written detailed reports of her in an attempt to slander her and her family. The source for the story claims Remini is considering going public with full details regarding her experience within the Church of Scientology.
A representative for the Church of Scientology has denied all of Remini’s claims.
