Lena Headey, famous for her roles in Game of Thrones and 300 has filed for divorce from her husband of five years, Peter Loughran.
The Huffington Post reports that, while details of the divorce are brief, Headey cited “irreconcilable differences” in her divorce documents last week at the L.A. County Superior Court.
Lena Headey and her musician husband Loughran have been married since May 2007 and have one son together, two-year-old Wylie Elliot. Along with the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, Headey has also starred in films like The Brothers Grimm, Possession, and 300.
In Game of Thrones, Headey plays the frigid Queen Cersei Lannister. Zap2it reports that in a recent interview, Lena Headey talked about hubby Peter, saying:
“He’s not an actor, he’s a normal man. Well, he’s not normal; he’s Irish, but you know what I mean. We met at a friend’s wedding and had a little dance together; it was pretty serious, right from the start.”
Headey and Loughran have been separated since 2011, according to the divorce filing, and Headey splits her time between England and Los Angeles. She is requesting joint legal and physical custody of Wylie.
According to E! Online, Lena Headey and the Game of Thrones cast recently took 12 Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Drama and Best Supporting Actress in a Drama for Headey.
The actress has also been cast in Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and is set to take on the role of Jocelyn Fray. The film is set to be released in August 2013.
