Lorde is known and admired for the unconventional ways she handles fame.
For example, unlike other teenage celebs, the 17-year-old singer stated in March that she doesn’t encourage vanity and unrealistic beauty through her photos. She said in an interview that she looks up to women who are unafraid to challenge societal norms and who “aren’t painted in history as sweet figures.”
However, most recently, Lorde did something that proved she is indeed different from other celebrities.
On Twitter, she posted the name and picture of the photographer she said had been stalking her for a long time with the following caption:
“This man has been stalking me, photographing me and refusing me privacy. I am scared of him.”
The Royals singer also named the paparazzo, Simon Runting, and dug up his Facebook profile to directly address him.

A New Zealand photographer, Runting is notorious for his invasive photography. Last year, he took unflattering photos of Rihanna through her hotel room window.
Lorde tweeted, "This should not be an accepted standard for young women or anyone in this industry. I refuse to stay complicit and I refuse to stay passive about men systematically subjecting me to extreme fear."
While Runting’s actions are not against the law, they are indisputably inappropriate. Also, he should be worried now that a celebrity has claimed that she is “afraid” of his presence.
