Lynyrd Skynyrd, the band that gave us "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Free Bird," is still popular with fans everywhere.

The band has faced some devastating crashes throughout the years, the biggest being a plane crash in 1977, in which five members of the band and crew were killed. Burns wasn't in that crash, as he had finished his time with the band three years earlier.

The car crash, however, was fatal for Bob Burns. He was found dead in his '95 Buick Roadmaster, which crashed into a tree and a mailbox.

He was 64 years old and although hasn't played for Skynyrd in quite some time, he was performing in a new band called Artimus Pyle, which was a tribute to the group that started it all.
