Mad Men Star Kiernan Shipka’s Unbelievable Designer Closet

Die from envy as little Mad Men star Kiernan Shipka takes us inside her designer closet to reveal some gorgeous fashion on Harper Bazaar’s YouTube show The Look. Harper bazaar’s Laura Brown catches up with the young starlet at her house in Los Angeles and the two discuss red carpet fashions, her character Sally Draper’s style and of course a look into her famous closet of vintage gems.

But Seriously, she is just 12! Imagine owning Oscar de la Renta jackets, Chloe capes, and Chanel cap-toe booties, knowing that in about a year you’ll just grow out of them? She told Laura that her fashion interest in fashion was brought along by magazines, fashion websites and blogs and her style has changed throughout her years. Laura jokes at this statement saying must be big change going from 9 to 10 years.

Working on the show Mad Men has really developed her taste in vintage clothing. The show’s stylist Janie Bryant inspires her and Kiernan admires her for not worrying about what people will think. The actress loves Jimmy Fallon’s humor and even got a top from him when she went on his show. She also admires Helena Bonham Carter and her homemade headbands. Kiernan also loves her converses, Chanel shoes and the Sally Draper go-go boots which she got to keep.

But she’s not always choosing looks off the rack. Perhaps inspired by Janie, Kiernan designs her own dresses, too! “I’ve designed three dresses so far and two I’ve had to give away. By the time I sketch them and actually go downtown and get the fabrics and have them made, I’ve grown out of them which is really sad.

That’s okay Kiernan; we are sure a young fashionista like you has plenty of time to become a well known designer.
