Matrix Director Larry Wachowski Reveals Himself as Woman

The Matrix Director Larry Wachowski is now officially Lana Wachowski. She revealed her transitioned self in promoting their next highly anticipated movie ‘Cloud Atlas.’

Lana has been transitioning for years now. This new clip ‘Cloud Atlas 2012: Director’s commentary’ starring Andy Wachowski, Lana and Tom Tykwer, appears to be her first public appearance since transitioning. With her hair in pink dreadlocks, Wachowski introduces herself as Lana for the first time as a woman in a behind-the-scenes trailer for the new film.

Wachowski’s personal life has been in the spotlight for some time now, Cannes Film Festival reported that the director was a cross-dresser. In 2002, he got into a bitter divorce from her wife Thea Bloom who reported that he was dishonest about their personal lives.

Wachowski is the latest public figure to come out as transgender. Earlier this year, Stephen Ira Beatty, the son of actors Warren Beatty and Annette Bening, spoke out about his transition from a woman to a man. In May, Tom Gabel, singer of the punk band ‘Against Me!’ told Rolling Stone he’s transgender and plans to start living as a woman, Laura Jane Grace.
