Ten years ago, a teen comedy movie was released that later became a phenomenon.
It’s true. Mean Girls is not just a cult classic or a cheesy chick flick. It remains one of the most intelligent Hollywood films ever made. It had to be so since it was written by Tina Fey, an accomplished writer and comedian, who was already doing wonders with her work on the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live.
The film is known for its wit and incredibly smart humor that gave the world some of the most memorable slang terms and catchphrases like "grool" and "that's so fetch".
Mean Girls will undoubtedly be included in the most notable works of its lead characters that included Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lizzy Caplan, Daniel Franzese, Jonathan Bennett, Lacey Chabert and Amanda Seyfried.
Even after a decade, the spark created by the movie has not died down. In fact, it has only grown brighter with time. Fans craved a sequel and even got one – a direct-to-DVD sequel entitled Mean Girls 2. It was aired on ABC Family on January 23, 2011 but didn’t follow the original plot and neither featured the same cast members, with the exception of Tim Meadows.
If you’re a die-hard fan and looking forward to celebrating Wednesday by wearing pink and watching Mean Girls all over again, do not forget to go through the following list first.
