It’s no secret that there’s a lot of animosity between presidential candidate Donald Trump and Fox News host Megyn Kelly. They have been sharing blows for much of 2016, particularly after the Republican debate hosted by Kelly.
Much of the feud has been hashed out over Twitter (seemingly Trump’s favorite way to bash people he disagrees with or dislikes) with some pretty sexist, immature, and confusing tweets coming from Trump.
If crazy @megynkelly didn't cover me so much on her terrible show, her ratings would totally tank. She is so average in so many ways!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 19, 2016
Everybody should boycott the @megynkelly show. Never worth watching. Always a hit on Trump! She is sick, & the most overrated person on tv.— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 18, 2016
Highly overrated & crazy @megynkelly is always complaining about Trump and yet she devotes her shows to me. Focus on others Megyn!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 17, 2016
Kelly tried to keep it pretty professional. While she did respond a few times to his most outlandish tweets, she ignored them for the most part.
After a while, however, Kelly was looking for a way to confront Trump about his debate, the tweets, and about what he really thought about the media.
During her appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Kelly explained that she waited for the tweets to stop before she asked Trump to meet in person.
“I knew if I could get face-to-face with him he would stop, you know? I think, you know, I don’t know what his motivation was.”
“You went to Trump Tower, right?” Fallon asks.
“Yeah, I contacted him and at first he said no, and then I asked again and he said yes. I went down there one morning and walked into Trump Tower and got past a bunch of eyeballs that were as big as saucers,” she said, laughing lightheartedly.
“Did you go with a crew?” Fallon asked.
“No, I went by myself. I knew that if I could get face-to-face with him—just the two of us, and I asked if he could be alone and he agreed—that I could speak to him. We didn’t address anything that had happened, you know, I didn’t ask him about any of the tweets or any of the things that he said because I was looking to move past that.”
She admits, though, that during the interview, they did end up talking about the tweets.
