Bassist Carol Kaye might not be a household name, but her work is instantly recognizable to tens of millions of music and TV fans.

Carol Kaye, who started playing music at the age of 14, worked as a backup musician on thousands of recordings, including tracks for the Beach Boys classic "Pet Sounds" and the infectious "Mission:Impossible theme." "All I wnated to do was play music and they threw money at me," Kaye recalls in the interview above, during which she also recounts her small but significant contribution to one of the biggest hits in the 1960s.
