It’s official: Paul Walker will be appearing one last time in the Fast & Furious franchise.
Following the actor’s death on November 30, there was much speculation as to whether or not Fast & Furious 7 was going to be redone or scrapped. Universal Pictures confirmed that Walker will be appearing in the latest installment, set to hit theaters on April 10, 2015.
"Continuing the global exploits in the franchise built on speed, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker lead the returning cast of FAST & FURIOUS 7, which will be released by Universal Pictures on April 10, 2015," the studio said in a statement. "James Wan directs this chapter of the hugely successful series, and Neal H. Moritz and Vin Diesel return as producers."
The announcement follows a post from Vin Diesel, 46, yesterday, confirming the release date along with a photo of him and Walker in the last scene that the two filmed together.
Fast & Furious 7 was in production at the time of Walker's sudden passing, and over 60 percent of the film had already been shot.
After Walker's death, Universal released a statement saying it is "our responsibility to shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise."
Although no information has been released on how the studio intends to move forward without Walker, fans can look forward to seeing the actor on the big screen one last time.
