Robert Pattinson Fooled By Rumors He Was Cast In ‘The Hunger Games’ Sequel

One of the "Hunger Games" fans most disappointed to find out Robert Pattinson's rumored casting in the trilogy's sequel wasn't true was the "Twilight" star himself.

While at the Cannes Film Festival over the weekend for the premiere of his newest movie, "Cosmopolis", the 26-year-old actor read the Internet reports linking him to the role of Finnick, a once and former star tribute, in "Catching Fire."

That Lionsgate issued a public "no comment" only stoked the speculation.

"I woke up this morning and saw all these things about me being cast in 'The Hunger Games,'" Pattinson told USA Today. "I was kind of curious for a second. So I called my agent."

"(My agent) was like no one's going to offer you that part. "I was like, 'Thanks for the reassurance.'"

Whoever lands the coveted role of Finnick, a major character in the last two installments of Suzanne Collins' trilogy, will have a high-profile part considering "The Hunger Games" is hovering near the $400 million mark at the box office.

"Catching Fire" is set to start production in the fall and has a planned Nov. 22, 2013, release date.
