Robin Thicke is blaming Miley Cyrus for her racy VMA performance.
In an upcoming episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter, Thicke sits down to discuss his latest controversial hit “Blurred Lines”, his marriage to actress Paula Patton and his role in the VMA performance with Miley Cyrus.
The 36-year-old singer told Oprah, “People ask me if I twerk, and I’m like, I’m the twerkee. I don’t twerk. I’m just twerked upon.” While referring to the backlash, the duo recieved after the performance, he added, “This is funny to me, it’s silly.”
Winfrey who must be a little surprised by his reply asked him, “You don’t think of it as sexual?”
Thicke replied, “Well, I was onstage, so I didn’t see it. So to me, I’m walking out toward Miley, I’m not thinking sex, I’m thinking fun … I’m singing my butt off. I’m singing and I’m looking at the sky and I’m singing and I’m not really paying attention to all that. That’s on her.”
This means that the sexed-up performance whish sparked weeks of debate and controversy is to be blamed only on Miley. But here's one thing that pops up in our heads. The popular singer who is maintaining his innocence over here is the singer of 'Blurred Lines.' The controversial song that was called 'rapey' by the critics, featuring so many naked women that it was banned by YouTube.
So, it wans't really difficult for the world to guess that Thicke is obviously not innocent enough to not understand what was happening on that stage.
Also Miley told Rolling Stone in an interview:
“No one is talking about the man behind the a**. It was a lot of ‘Miley twerks on Robin Thicke,’ but never, ‘Robin Thicke grinds up on Miley.’ They’re only talking about the one that bent over. So obviously there’s a double standard.”
She also told Ellen Degeneres that Thicke definitely knew what was happening.
“He was in rehearsal as much as I was, and loving it, people”
We know what Miley did but we also know what was Thicke's contribution in it. Let us know with your comments if you agree with Thicke's comments or not.
Robin Thicke's interview on Oprah's Next Chapter will air on October 13th at 9/8 c.
