It's fake and all, but the WWE does know how to get the fans excited via some A-list outside help.
The Wrestlemania 31 was all set to be another event where big burly guys pretend to beat each other, but then came the mother of all surprises.
WWE's part owner and Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon delivered a very real slap on Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's face at the end of a verbal spat. Now, The Rock doesn't hit women, so he invited UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey to do the honors on his behalf.
Rowdy Ronda duly obliged and proceeded to kick both Triple H and his wife Stephanie's "candy asses." Watch:
But the best part of the confrontation wasn't even the beating. It was this line:
Apparently, UFC and Dana White had given Rousey their blessing for the WWE appearance.
Meanwhile, the WWE fans who saw Rousey's bulging biceps for the first time were like:
Ronda Rousey’s biceps > my biceps. I am a full grown man in my 30’s. I am the sads.— Matt Brown (@MattBrownM2) March 30, 2015
With the kind of following Rousey has amassed in the past few months, the chances of her becoming a regular fixture at the WWE cannot be discounted. Apart from Cristiane Justino, there isn't much competition left for her to submit. Once that fight is out of the way, WWE could, in theory, be her new home.
