Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Tie the Knot (Images)

Bollywood stars Saif Alik Khan and Kareena Kapoor have been together for 5 years now.  Their wedding has been without doubt the most speculated and talked about wedding to have come out of Bollywood in recent times.  Dubbed Saifeena by the paparazzi, they are also known as are known as Bollywood's "first couple".

Saif Ali Khan is the son of former Indian cricket captain and titular Nawab of Pataudi, late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Sharmila Tagore, a former actress. After the death of his father, Saif was anointed the new Nawab of Pataudi. While Kareena Kapoor belongs to the ‘Kapoor’ family and is the granddaughter of legendary actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor.. Her parents and older sister as well as uncles have also been a huge part of the Bollywood film industry.

Much has been said about the two and their relationship. Kareena Kapoor belongs to a Hindu-Christian background whereas Saif Ali Khan’s father was a Muslim and mother converted to Islam at the time of marriage.

The Chief of hardliner religious party in India, the Jamiat Ulama, Maulana Hafiz Nadeem Siddiqui has announced that if Kareena Kapoor weds Saif Ali Khan without accepting Islam, the wedding would be considered nothing but a farce. According to Islamic law, people belonging to two different religions cannot marry, unless they are the followers of one of the Holy Scriptures, which Hindus are not.

When asked if she would convert to Islam, Kareena has previously been known to have said, "It is a very personal question and I cannot answer it."

The first wedding ceremony that took place on the 16^th of October was a registry marriage and a quiet affair with only immediate family members from both sides present. It will be followed by a reception in New Delhi on October 18.

It is also said that the couple will exchange wedding vows  later in the day as well. They will have a Christian wedding too, as Kareena’s mother is a practicing Christian.
