The last time SNL had a black female cast member was in 2007 when Maya Rudolph left the show.
It is about time another one was taken onboard. Saturday Night Live has been under pressure to hire a black female cast member for a long time.
In an episode last year, Saturday Night Live got guest host Kerry Washington to play Beyoncé, Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey in a sketch.
Now they have finally hired a permanent black female star in the form of Sasheer Zamata.
There had been reports of secret auditions to fill the gap on the show and Zamata was said to be one of at least three women to be shortlisted.
Zamata will make her debut on the show on Jan. 18th - the first live episode of the show in the New Year.
This beauty has graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Drama and is an actress, writer and comedian based in New York City. She has been hosting a weekly variety show called School Night and also has a web series called Pursuit of Sexiness.
