Saxophonist extraordinaire Dave Koz wants America to rise to action…at least when it comes to choosing music. Carbonated.TV sat down with the man who plays the sax with sass but minus the crass to talk about his new album “Hello Tomorrow” and to learn how his revitalized beats are more relatable to fans than ever before. Dave Koz has the look of a saxophonist. Sharp and classy, he is as freshly polished as the brass on his instrument. However, after twenty years of jazz playing, a newly defined Koz emerges playing to the beat of a different drum (or technically sax), experimenting with a whole new type of jazz that relates to the time and ultimately to jazz enthusiasts. Dave says we have all experienced loss during this time of change: loss of money, loss of a job. For Koz personally, he lost his mother and father all within a couple of years. But from loss, Koz has been able to seize the day. The soulful smooth rhythms indicative of Dave Koz are now invested with funk and breeziness suggesting an optimistic look towards tomorrow.

Dave Koz says, “We live in a vocal world. We live in an American Idol mentality where it’s all about singers singing songs, lyrics. And I would love for every American to have at least one CD, or one thing in their iTunes or iPod or whatever it is of how you listen to music … [to have a copy of] instrumental music. It doesn’t have to be mine […] Music has a particular property that stirs the soul unlike words can.”

“Hello Tomorrow” is Dave Koz’s twelfth album and is his debut release on record label Concord Records. His breezy new single “Put the Top Down” debuted on Jay Leno recently, and his new album released on October 12th. The six time GRAMMY nominee is a whole new Dave with new producers, new musicians, new beats so get ready for jazz….revitalized.

Dave Koz’s album “Hello Tomorrow” is now available on Amazon and iTunes. Be sure to get your copy today!!!
