Struggles Of A Double Amputee Former Pro Wrestler

A former wrestling legend, Kamala is now a double amputee.

Billed as a cannibalistic headhunter from the African jungles, Kamala "The Ugandan Giant" was one of the pro wrestling industry's most terrifying characters.

During his 30-year career, children often hid behind their parents as the 6'7", 380-pounder appeared in the ring bearefoot wearing white face paint and a leopard-skin loincloth. Kamala was actually a truck driver from Mississippi.

"He was the kind of guy you had nightmares about," wrestling commentator Jim Ross says. "But out of the ring, you couldn't find a more beautiful person."

Today, he's a double amputee on dialysis struggling to make ends meet. Diabetes forced doctors to remove both of his legs in 2011.

The video above, produced by Bleacher Report, shows James Harris (a.k.a. Kamala) as he copes with the loss of both legs to diabetes.

There's a GoFundMe page set up for Kamala that's raised almost $11,000 for the wrestler.
