At least that’s the conclusion Jon Stewart’s correspondents came to on Wednesday’s Daily show while commenting on Palin’s comparison between federal debt and slavery.
During a recent speech for the promotion of her book “Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas”, the former Alaska governor said that federal debt from China would eventually enslave Americans.
“Our free stuff today is being paid for today by taking money from our children and borrowing money from China. When that note comes due — and this isn’t racist so try it anyway, this isn’t racist — but it’s going to be like slavery when that note is due, right? We are going to be beholden to a foreign master,” she opined.
After listening to her speechclip, Daily Show comedian Keegan-Michael Key - who had earlier called Palin ‘racist’ - took his words back.
“Okay, alright, spoke too soon. Not racist.”
“Just stupid,” conceded another staffer Jordan Peele, while colleague Jessica Williams kept on saying “super stupid, hella stupid.”

This is not the first time Sarah Palin’s stupid comments has=ver raised eyebrows or been the butt of late night show jokes.
In June, she made a baseless and insensitive statement on U.S. intervention in Syria. Watch video here.
As recently as Tuesday, she said that she would rather go to Canada for healthcare instead of enrolling for Obamacare.
