Who could have thought the year would end so soon?!

At Carbonated TV we know that the internet loves its lists, and we realize that it’s almost impossible to keep up with everything that came out this year.Which is why we decided to put the two together – a list that gives you headline making events for you to be able to revisit the year in minutes!

Here are our top items that made headlines in entertainment this year. Let us know if your favorite event made it to our top 10 in the comments below.

10 – Interactive Videos:

Bob Dylan’s interactive video of ‘Like a Rolling Stone’, has perhaps changed how music videos and videos in general are viewed, forever.

‘Interactive videos’ which previously only existed on the fringes of the internet, truly became a thing this year, thanks to musicians like Bob Dylan, Pharrell and others. We will definitely see more of this trend in the coming years as more and more digital agencies are partnering up record labels and entertainment execs to give the tech driven world these gems.

9 – PSY’s Gentlemen

I have two words for you: Psy and Gentlemen. And of course, Gangnam Style. Celebrities, non-celebrities, athletes, babies, cats, and everyone else in between (wait, is anyone left?) love this KPOP star.

PSY’s Gangnam Style featured crazy horse-like dance which everyone tried to copy and most succeeded. PSY followed his Gangnam Style with Gentlemen. And if you haven’t seen it, check it out here.

8 – Gravity

Easily the best contender for best movie of the year.

7 – Miley Cyrus

Oh Miley Cyrus. To say that the former Disney darling shook the internet, the entertainment industry, her legions of fans, non-fans and just about everyone alive with her antics this year, would not be wrong.

Ms. Cyrus, possessor of fabulous singing talent, with several awards to her name decided to reinvent herself with a new grown-up image. For smoking pot on the stage, raunchy dances, and that Wrecking ball video, Miley truly captured the entertainment industry. What will she do next, was a question everyone asked. For all of this and many more, Miley Cyrus’s rebranding makes it to our list.

6 – KimYe

KimYe also makes it to our top 10. For those of you who have been living under a rock, KimYe is reality TV darling Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s lovingly assigned couple-name. And no, we did not come up with it.

A divorce, a baby, an engagement, massive weight gain followed by miraculous weight loss best describes the year in KimYe news. Of course all of this was wrapped up in Kanye’s love for himself, how people copied and stole his fashion ideas and how great an artist he was. Makes our list for best superficial-crap-that-everyone-can’t-get-enough-of, of the year.

5- Lorde, Royals

16 year old unknown singer from New Zealand with a voice that packs a punch is who Lorde is. Royals is the best sleeper hit of the year and Lorde already has a cult following. With everyone raving about this teenager and with good reason, check it out if you haven’t already.

Thicke also joined Miley on stage for one of the most controversial and extremely disturbing performances from MTV VMAs of the mash-up of Blurred Lines and We Can’t Stop.

The song’s underlying meaning, the video of what it represented created extensive controversy for Robin Thicke. Thicke of course continually defended the song, and people continued to spoof it.
