Amy Adams had just completed filming Batman Vs Superman and was traveling from Detroit to Los Angeles.
On the flight she quietly switched her first class seat for a soldier she saw traveling in coach on the same Delta Air Lines flight.
Further, she did it quietly enough so as to not draw any attention. But her gesture didn’t go unnoticed. A fellow passenger, ESPN’s Jemele Hill witnessed the incident and tweeted about it.
Just saw actress Amy Adams do something incredibly classy. She gave her 1st class seat to an American soldier. I'm an even bigger fan now.— Jemele Hill (@jemelehill) June 27, 2014
Hill later explained to ABC News: "I noticed Ms. Adams was in first class and as I was getting seated, I saw the flight attendant guide the soldier to Ms. Adams' seat. She was no longer in it, but it was pretty clear that she'd given up her seat for him. I was incredibly impressed, and I'm not even sure if the soldier knew who gave him that seat. I guess he will now!"
A flight attendant said to Hill, that in all her years of service she has never seen a celebrity do something like that. ‘Regular people, yes. But not a celeb,’ she said.
"Ms. Adams did it so quietly and quickly that it speaks to her character," Hill added. "And somebody in coach just got a helluva seatmate!"
The five-time Academy Award nominee grew up in a military family she shares the sentiments of most people who feel indebted to people in uniform who risk their lives for their people and country.
When approached by the Inside Edition for comments, Amy had this to say, "I didn't do it for attention for myself. I did it for attention for the troops."
Now doesn’t that just make you love her more?
