It’s Movember again! In case you didn’t know, “Movember” stands for mustache and November combined. Movember takes place during the month of November and was created to raise awareness for various forms of cancer in males, in particular prostate cancer, and other male charities. The Movember Foundation encourages men around the world to get involved and grow a mustache or not shave during the month of November. But of course, there are rules to be followed if one wishes to participate in Movember. Below are 5 Movember Mustache Rules for 2013.
1) You must start off clean shaven
Adam Garone, co-founder of Movember has created a little list of “Movember rules.” And the first one is: you must start off clean shaven. At the beginning of November you must completely shave and grow only a mustache.
2) Must grow out mustache for a full 30 days
The next Movember rule, according to the official Movember website, participants must grow out their mustaches for the full 30 days. Not 29 days, not 31 days, but 30 days of November.
3) Bring awareness to the cause
You can just grow a mustache for fun anytime. But if you are participating in Movember, that means you are down for the cause. When someone comments on your Movember mustache that is the perfect opportunity to let them know what Movember is all about. Let family, friends, and anyone that’s interested know they can donate.
4) You must be a man
Okay, this one isn’t really a movember rule. But if you are growing a mustache then that part is for the men. Women, or “Mo Sistas” are a huge part of Movember’s success and awareness. Mo Sistas get involved through raising funds and encouraging the men around them to participate in Movember.
5) Celebrate your Movember journey
At the end of Movember everyone will get together and have a celebration. A reward should be given for whoever has the best and worst mustache. You can have your own Movember celebration or join one of the many official Gala events held around the world.
