You know what they say, mothers are always right. Right?
She may sound nagging and we think the old woman gets on our case at every chance she gets, but there really is a method to her madness. Sometimes we don’t really learn that until later in life and that is the point that the realization strikes us:
So, here are 5 things that your mother was absolutely spot on about:
If all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you?
We’ve all done a lot of stupid things in our lives with disastrous results despite mom’s endless warnings. Everyone’s doing it why can’t we?
We’ve done it all and learned the lessons in bitter, bitter ways; haven’t we?
How do you know you don’t like it if you don’t try it?
Mom is right – it’s our preconceived notions, more than anything else, that keep us from going after something, trying new things and experiencing the joys of accomplishing something.
It doesn’t matter who started it, you end it
We waste way too much time fighting, assigning blame and waiting for the aggressor to straighten up and make amends. In reality, all we end up doing is prolonging a resolution of the issue and hurting ourselves. It works out so much better when you solution for the sake of your peace of mind and happiness.
It’s a sure-fire way of ensuring no regrets.
It Gets Better
Nothing lasts forever- definitely not all the bad that comes our way. Better day are around the corner – we just have to be patient and positive.
The guy that doesn’t notice you; the dress you can’t afford, the trip you had to miss – it all passes and you realize it wasn’t the end of the world after all.
If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all
Honesty is important but it’s not always necessary to share your opinion. Sometimes it doesn’t hurt to say things a bit diplomatically and if there is something just bursting to come out; it really, really pays to keep it in or even sleep over it.
