Coconut oil has become one the most popular oils in the health and beauty industry over the past couple of years, even though it has been around forever. With its many health benefits and uses, it’s no wonder people love coconut oil. Plus it even smells and tastes amazing. Below are 5 ways to use coconut oil for beauty treatments.
1) Eat it
In a study conducted in 2009 researchers discovered that consuming 2 tablespoons of coconut oil each day can actually help reduce abdominal obesity. Supermodel Miranda Kerr promoted the daily consumption of coconut oil which basically catapulted the oil to another level of popularity. In an interview with Australia’s Cosmopolitan magazine Miranda stated, "I will not go a day without coconut oil. I personally take four tablespoons per day, either on my salads, in my cooking or in my cups of green tea."
2) Use as a moisturizer
Using organic cold-pressed virgin coconut oil for skin care is excellent, especially if you have dry skin. This oil quickly penetrates the epidermis leaving it moisturized, minus the long term greasy feeling you can get with other oils. Coconut oil is high in saturated fats so it helps prevent oxidation, which is great for anti-aging.
3) Acne treatment
Coconut oil is said to be good as an acne treatment due to its antibacterial, antifungal, and antimicrobial properties. Almost every woman wants beautiful thick long eyelashes. Did you know that coconut oil can actually help with that? You can put some on your finger and gently swipe it on your lashes. Or you can get a clean mascara wand and apply a thin coat to your lashes.
5) Hair mask
Using coconut oil for hair is one of the best masks you can use. Due to the coconut oil’s molecular structure it is great for the hair strands because they penetrate the hair shaft, which helps reduce protein loss. Apply the oil directly to the ends of the hair; let it sit for 30 minutes, then rinse!
