If you're like me, few summer childhood memories don't include a Popsicle in one hand. Whether it was a chocolatey Fudgsicle or a sweet, dye-your-tongue-purple grape pop, it's hard to distinguish one fond memory from the next.
But while we've grown up, perhaps our taste buds haven't done as much maturing as our incomes have (remember $1 allowances?). Thankfully, we don't have to ignore our sweet and cool cravings this summer as there are now boozy popsicles and milkshakes.
But how exactly does one freeze something that doesn't solidify when you store it in the freezer?
Well, it's actually quite simple. The key is to nail the ratio. Every recipe is different, though, so you have to follow the instructions exactly.
Additionally, make sure you leave enough time to allow for thorough freezing. When it comes to Popsicles, you'll typically freeze the mixture for an hour or so before even putting the sticks in — then you'll leave them overnight. In other words, these are treats you can make in just a few hours if you're going to do them right.
If you're looking for a quicker fix, boozy shakes are for you. All they require is thorough mixing and plenty of ice.
