Carnival-goers in northern Italy's Ivrea pelt each other with oranges in an enactment of a centuries-old legend of tyranny and the fight for liberty. It's Italy's largest food fight - and apparently it's as painful as it looks.
Revellers dress up in medieval costumes and hurl 500 tons of juicy fruit at one another.
The celebration began as a way to mark the city's defiance against a 12th century tyrant. Since then, it has evolved into a contest where nine teams compete with fixed rules.
While passions here are running high, for some keeping clear of the fruit whizzing by takes some getting used to!
Seems like awesome fun!
