This is indeed the season to be jolly, but there are some who end up alone on Christmas and it can be difficult for these people to get into the holiday spirit.
One can go along being on one’s own throughout the year, but as Liz Jones puts it, “Christmas is a different kettle of seasonal salmon altogether. There is no escaping it or ignoring it. “
It is almost as if our lives are defined by the people in it rather than ourselves. But let’s face it, being on your own isn’t really easy when you are surrounded, or rather bombarded, by things like these:
The perfect, beautiful family
Crazy & weird but still a family
And all you feel is:
And then depression strikes and all of a sudden you realize that life is not about to change.
The longer you wallow in self-pity, the more you realize nothing has ever gone right for you.
But what you really must do is count your blessings. It’s not all about being surrounded with people. If you have just your own company, make the most of it.
Talking of counting your blessings, you may be alone this Christmas, but at least you’re not one of these guys.
And don’t let all the ‘festivities’ fool you. More and more it is about commercialism than anything else.
So feel good that you do have been spared the personal debt and are not a tool in the hands of corporations, brands and banks, who do their best to empty your pockets,
And anyway, Christmas or any other gathering nowadays is all about one thing:
And that cozy Kiss and snuggle under the mistletoe you seem to feel deprived of?
Aren’t these the Funniest Christmas Trees You Have Ever Seen?
So, just be glad you are in the company of someone who is the best. You. If it didn’t work out like that this time around, there’s always next year:
