Healthy Doesn’t Mean Skinny And These Jeans Prove It

by
Finally someone has come out to counter the deplorable thigh-gap craze and the credit goes to Barbell Apparel.

Barbell Apparel has introduced jeans aimed at athletes and people with muscles. No thigh gaps here.

It’s refreshing to see someone aiming at the fit and healthy as opposed to either the super skinny or plus size individuals. Obviously these jeans can be worn by plus size people as well, but the fact that they are aiming at neither of the two extremes is an extremely positive sign.

The disturbing thigh gap phenomenon, for which young women try to get so thin that their inner thighs don't touch each other, is neither healthy nor appealing.

In a recent interview, Barbell Apparel co-owner Hunter Molzen spoke about the product.

"These are the anti-thigh-gap jeans," he said. "Athletes work hard for their strong, meaty thighs and they should be proud of them. It is how human beings were built to function.”

But it’s not just for the muscular ones. "Even for active people whose legs aren't particularly muscular, we wanted to give them a denim option that allows them to have amazing flexibility and freedom of movement," says Molzen.

The company is getting all the praise it deserves.

These jeans are a welcome addition for the active and healthy people out there including athletes. It’s really amazing to see a new brand, a kickstarter in fact, take that step.

In this day and age, certain looks and body images are coveted, but not necessarily achievable. The result is an overwhelming increase in body image issues, eating disorders, addictions and extreme beauty procedures.
