Chantelle is as beautiful as she is brave.
As a child in Canada, she became an easy target for bullies. “While growing up, I was teased, ridiculed, and bullied and called names like cow, zebra, and all manner of other disparaging slurs,” she says. “The continuous harassment and the despair that it brought on my life was so unbearably dehumanizing that I wanted to kill myself.”
Living with Vitiligo isn’t easy for anyone, let alone a little girl. The disease is caused by a malfunctioning immune system, has no cure, and affects less than one percent of the world’s population. It’s the same disorder that pop icon Michael Jackson suffered from.
Things changed when the family moved from Canada to California. Chantelle decided to really make a fresh start and instead of feeling sorry for herself, or being ashamed of her skin condition, she decided to embrace it.
She realized soon enough that it was only her attitude that was really the culprit. Brown-Young’s new attitude made all the difference..
She wanted to become a model and started working towards her goal. Before long, there was one opportunity after another coming her way, including a chance to star in America’s Next Top Model.

This beautiful lady is an inspiration for all. Even at this young age, she teaches us not to let anything drag us down and how it’s our attitude towards difficulties more than the problems themselves that determine our fate.
