I, as a general rule, despise Kickstarter. I find the site to be a wasteland of self-indulgent Indy films and minimalist wallets. But today, everything has changed. Today, on Kickstarter, we all can come together to fund new editions of Choose Your Own Adventure books for mobile devices!
Do you know what that means, people? Instead of telling you to flip to a page, the books will instead provide two links to choose from. Do you know that THAT means? Once you click a link, there’s no going back.
I always like the Choose Your Own Adventure books more in theory than in practice. Hopefully, with this reboot, some more talented writers will get some work in.
My favorite version of Choose Your Own Adventure books were the ones done by R.L Stein and based in the Goosebumps universe. I bet R.L. would be done to get back in the writing saddle. The only thing better than 125 million Goosebump dollars is 126 million Goosebump dollars!
In two days the Kickstarter has raised nearly $30,000 of the $130,000 goal. If the Kickstarter can secure 100k more in the next 28 days, the Choose Your Own Adventure books will be turned into cartoons and released on iPad. The Kickstarter claims that the new project will be aimed towards young children, but if you think I’m the only millennial hyped about this, then get out of my grill.
Someone has already paid $10,000 which means one of the Choose Your Own Adventure stories will be about them! Jealoussssss.
